Michal Pechoucek Prof. Michal Pechoucek Ph.D.

Czech Technical University in Prague;


Full professor in cybernetics at the Czech Technical University (CTU). He is the Head of the Agent Technology Center and the Deputy Chair for Research at the Department of Computer Science at CTU. He is also a Founding Director of the Open Informatics, a research oriented computer science study programme at CTU.

Michal Pěchouček has been a Principal Investigator (PI) on more than 30 research contracts and grants provided by US Air Force, US Army CERDEC and Office for Naval Research. He has been a PI on two projects funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GACR). He has been running several research contracts funded by the FAA and has collaborated on two additional research grants funded by NASA. His research has been also funded by industry including Rockwell Automation, FOXCON, Denso AUTOMOTIVE, CADANCE Design Systems, SAAB and others.

In 2011 he spent a Fulbright Commission funded sabbatical at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California, in 2006 he worked as a visiting scientist at the University of Edinburgh, in 2003 as a visiting professor at the State University of New York in Binghamton and in 2000 he worked as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Calgary.

Michal Pěchouček is the author of more than 150 papers, 22 WoS impact-factor journals, his Hindex is 12/25 (WoS/Google Scholar) and number of citations is 427/2378 (WoS/Google Scholar). Jointly with his colleagues, he has received many awards for technical excellence including the Czech Mind (Česká Hlava) for Invention in 2010, Google research award in 2009, and Czech Engineering Academy Award 2007.

He served as the chairman of the board of directors of European Association for Multiagent Systems (EUMAS) and is a member of the board of directors of International Foundation of Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (IFAAMAS). He is a honorary member of Artificial Intelligence Application Institute at University of Edinburgh and a member of advisory board of the Center for Advanced Information Technology, University of Binghamton. He is a member of scientific council of Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University and is a member of the Czech Science Foundation panel on informatics (202).

He is the co-founder of Cognitive Security (acquired by CISCO Systems in 2013), AgentFly Technologies and BlindSpot Solutions, three Czech start-up companies. As a result of the acquisition, Michal Pěchouček serves a director of CISCO Systems R&D Center, specialized in machine learning analytics for cyber security.
